Who are Dozing Toad?

Hi there,

     Welcome to Dozing Toad's pad. We call ourselves Dozing Toad because this encapsulates our vision of a perfect life. To lead a happy life, we don't believe we need to own a lot of things, what we need are the connections with our family, to nature, and to the people we love and care about. 

     Our story begins when the pandemic started last March in 2020. We were expecting our second child in August and our daughter's daycare was closed. Our mother in law came to the rescue and ended up staying with us for a year and 3 months. During this time, we went through the birth of our son and we celebrated the third birthday of our daughter. We were both able to work from home. Pandemic has brought us closer as a family. 

    When we drove our mother in law back to her farm in Sudbury Canada, we decided to embark on a journey to backcountry living, because this is where they chose to live their retirement and we wanted to find a way to come visit them every year and allow them to be part of our kids' growing up. 

       Becoming parents have made us rethink what are truly important in life. We are grateful to have this opportunity to explore nature and countryside living with our kids. We can see how this has strengthened their character and made  them kinder human beings. 

      We created this blog to document our journey. A journey to a different living style, a journey to be closer to our family and loved ones, and a journey to find ourselves. 

         We are learning every day and we want to share with you resources we found, lessons we learned, and hopefully you will be enticed to start your own journey.
